Repair entries

Faults we are called out for on Wolf cooking equipment, numbered and indexed. Each entry sets out what we measure and what the repair involves.

Scope of work

We service Wolf cooking equipment and nothing else. Equipment still inside the manufacturer's warranty should go through the manufacturer's own network.

Every entry in this chapter is a cooking fault. None of them is a heating or air-conditioning fault, and this company does not take that work: a furnace, a heat pump, an air handler or a house duct run needs a licensed mechanical contractor, not an appliance technician. Where these entries discuss a duct, it is the extraction run above a cooking hood, and where they discuss cooling, it is the air an appliance needs around itself to shed its own heat.

What does a repair in this chapter cost?

$80 flat to come out and find the fault, credited in full against the repair when you approve it. Beyond that, the work below is what these jobs run to once parts and labour are counted — $80 at the low end, $690 at the top of the widest band on this page.

Completed work on the faults this page covers
No. Work Completed, parts and labour
2.3.01 Flat diagnostic fee $80
2.3.02 Igniter or spark module replacement $190–$550
2.3.03 Burner valve or orifice service $230–$660
2.3.04 Oven thermostat or temperature sensor $180–$520
2.3.05 Convection fan or motor $260–$690

A range, because the firm figure is written down after the diagnosis and not before it. The band a job lands in depends on which part failed, whether the appliance has to come out of the cabinetry to reach it, and what the part costs the week it is ordered. A written estimate is provided before any repair begins. No work starts without your approval.

Questions about the repair index

How do I tell which entry describes my fault?
Start from what the appliance is doing rather than from what you think has failed. Each entry is titled with the symptom you would say on the phone and lists the symptoms underneath it. If two look close, read both — the difference is usually the question we would ask you first.
Do I need to know which part failed before I call?
No. The age of the appliance and a clear account of what it does, and when, is worth more than a guess at the part. That is what the $80 diagnostic is for: it answers the question with measurements. A written estimate is provided before any repair begins. No work starts without your approval.
